Trauma Responsive Programme

Connectere — Latin for join together — is a voluntary, trauma-responsive intervention programme for men within the Justice system.

Delivered across 17 sessions, it was developed in 2022 by Alex O’Donnell and Dr Dawn Harris alongside lived experts with first-hand experience of trauma, recovery and the Justice system.

Connectere fully aligns with Community Justice Scotland priorities and has been described as ‘revolutionary’ by trauma expert Dr Alastair M Hull MD, FRCPsych. An independent evaluation found it “to have a significant positive impact, and even life-changing” results.

Train Your Organisation to Deliver It

Our 5-day training package equips your team to implement Connectere independently — including four days with the programme’s authors and a supervisors’ course to quality-assure delivery. A minimum of three facilitators is recommended. View course registration and learning outcomes.

Connectere breaks the intergenerational cycle of trauma. Grounded in neurobiological principles and a compassion-focused approach, it restores safety, trust and connection for men whose traumatic histories have brought them into conflict with the Justice system.
