Rachael Moss holds a degree in psychology and a MSc in forensic psychology, with over 15 years’ experience supporting people across justice, homelessness, residential care, and health settings in Scotland. She has a strong interest in compassion‑focused and trauma‑informed approaches, and in promoting psychological wellbeing at multiple levels, from individual therapy to wider system change.
Clinical work
Rachael is currently a Trainee Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology, providing evidence‑based psychological therapy in primary care settings with adults experiencing common mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and trauma‑related distress. She conducts psychological assessments, develops collaborative formulations, and offers time‑limited, goal‑focused interventions, drawing on approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, under supervision. She is skilled in creating collaborative therapeutic relationships, using formulation‑driven interventions, and tailoring therapy to each person’s goals, values, and context. She also has significant experience designing, delivering, and evaluating psychologically informed groupwork, creating safe, structured spaces for shared learning, reflection, and skills development.
Training and facilitation
For over three years, Rachael has worked as an Epione Associate Trauma Trainer, facilitating trauma‑informed and responsive training across Scotland and England. She supports individuals and organisations to understand the impact of trauma, shame, and adversity, weaving in practical interventions and ways to build more compassionate environments. She brings together psychological theory, front‑line experience, and reflective practice to support psychologically informed environments. Rachael is a certified facilitator of Balanced Minds Compassionate Mind Training and continues to promote this approach to improving wellbeing.
Coproduction
Coproduction is a core thread running through Rachael’s clinical, training, and research work. She is passionate about ensuring that people with lived experience are involved at every stage of service design and delivery, from setting priorities to evaluating impact. She has experience of partnering with people and communities to co‑design groups, resources, and training, aiming to create responses that feel relevant, respectful, and genuinely collaborative.
